6 Bible Verses to Help Those in Recovery from Addiction

If you are trying to recover from an addiction or have a loved one who is, the Bible can bring great comfort and inspiration. There are many verses that can help, but here are six of the best:

1. Psalms 30:1-3

“I will exalt you, Lord, for you lifted me out of the depths and did not let my enemies gloat over me. Lord my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me. You, Lord, brought me up from the realm of the dead; you spared me from going down to the pit.”

Ask God for help, and He will heal you. He can raise you no matter how low you’ve fallen.

2. Matthew 11:28-30

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Jesus provides sanctuary for all. All you have to do is come to Him.

3. James 5:15-16

“And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

If your contrition is sincere, God will hear your prayers and forgive you, and He will raise you from the floor.

4. Revelation 21:3-4

“And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death” or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.'”

God has the power relieve your suffering. You just have to be willing.

5. Jeremiah 17:14

“Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.”

God can make you well. You only have to ask Him.

6. James 4:10

“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.”

Put aside your pride and ask for help, and surely you will receive it.
